Kyoto School Tetsubin
This extraordinary Chagama with an authentic Hamamatsu motif is a fine example of Kyoto school Tetsubin. As one of the leading iron casting masters of Japan, Mr Kikuchi Masamitsu has won numerous awards in his life.
There are two main cultures of Tetsubin, the Kansai Kyoto School and the Nanbu School. The Kyoto school Tetsubin, such as this one, have a plum clip on the lid and the lid is made of copper. Only Kyo-Tetsubins are used in tea ceremonies.
